It's that time of year once again! Soon all of us here in New Haven County can expect to see upticks in daily snow amounts. One of the dangers that come with increased snowfall and bitterly cold temperatures is the risk of slip and falls on icy sidewalks. Let's get the facts on distracted driving

Distracted driving may be the epidemic of a generation. It's an incredible problem on the roads all over America, and efforts to put an end to it have not had success. It takes lives unnecessarily. It puts people in the hospital after accidents that should never have happened. At the end of the day, it's very easy to overcome: People just need to pay attention to the road. But that doesn't happen.

The Supreme Court orders the destruction of stored embryos

On Oct. 30, Connecticut Supreme Court justices issued a ruling in what's sure to become a landmark case that other judges consider when making decisions in their courtrooms in the future. On that day, the justices ruled that the frozen embryos that the divorcing couple had previously stored would be seen as marital property, and therefore, destroyed. This decision went against the husband's wishes.

Lawmakers aim to make cars not start if a motorist is intoxicated

Late last month, lawmakers revealed that the federal government has invested significant monetary resources in its Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety Program (DADSSP). Lawmakers expect the DADSSP system to make it where cars can't be started if it determines that a motorist has a blood alcohol content (BAC) above the legal limit here in Connecticut or elsewhere in the country.
