All sorts of dangerous behaviors can cause a fatal crash, such as the consumption of alcohol or getting behind the wheel while overly fatigued. However, speeding is especially problematic and continues to pose a threat to the lives of vehicle occupants in New London, and in all other cities around the state of Connecticut. Not only should you realize how many fatal wrecks happen because of speeding drivers, but you should not have any hesitation when it comes to holding negligent drivers accountable if your loved one was lost in a collision.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that 27 percent of the people who lost their lives in an auto accident during 2015 were part of an accident that involved a driver who was speeding. Additionally, 18 percent of drivers involved in deadly collisions during the same year were driving above the speed limit when the accident happened. Over the course of 2015, more than 35,000 people passed away in traffic accidents.

When it comes to speeding, there are different factors to keep in mind. Sometimes, drivers accidentally go over the speed limit because they are not paying attention. In other cases, drivers may reach reckless speeds on purpose. However, driving above the speed limit is very dangerous and puts the lives of innocent people at risk, regardless. When someone causes an accident because they were not driving within the speed limit, they should not be allowed to get away with their behavior. Sadly, more people will lose their lives due to negligent drivers.
