From pedestrians to truck drivers, there are many types of motor vehicle accident victims. In New London, and other Connecticut communities, drivers have a responsibility to watch out for everyone else on the road, whether people are crossing the street on foot or riding a scooter or bicycle. Sadly, many drivers have caused deadly accidents and crashes that leave victims permanently injured because they were driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A 19-year-old woman from New York was recently charged with drunk driving after she allegedly caused an accident in New London, Connecticut. The crash, which prompted authorities to close the road, took place at roughly 12:15 a.m. According to law enforcement officials, the woman was a college student and was taken into custody after she struck someone who was riding a scooter.

After the operator of the scooter was reportedly struck by the drunk driver, he was taken to the hospital to be treated. The man was seriously injured in the collision, which took place on Route 32. Law enforcement officials have asked for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.

Whether a victim is forced to quit working, suffers from physical pain or cannot escape mental trauma, drunk driving accidents can be devastating. As a result, victims of these wrecks should firmly stand up for their rights. Sometimes, talking to an attorney who has dealt with drunk driving cases can provide valuable insight for victims and a better understanding of how to move forward.
