Long-lasting injuries resulting from car crashes

Unfortunately for Connecticut drivers, getting into an accident isn’t a one-time problem that ends quickly. In fact, many people who get into car accidents find themselves suffering from physical, mental and emotional side effects for months or even years after the initial impact took place.

Web MD states that there are a large number of mental side effects associated with car accidents, and that these issues can persist for the long term. Just a few include anxiety, phobias, depression, or even posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These issues can begin forming immediately after an accident, or may form slowly over a longer period of time.

Many people who were questioned about their mental state in a study of post-accident survivors found that their mental health deteriorated over a course of twelve months, or felt that their problems were stronger as the months went by. This could potentially be due to the fact that issues like anxiety or depression often affect every area of a person’s life, leading to sleep problems, interpersonal relationship issues, and so on.

A big physical issue, on the other hand, is chronic pain. Spine-health states that chronic lower back pain is common after accidents, and can deteriorate the quality of a person’s life. Other common chronic pains can include neck and shoulder pains, muscular strain, or even the development of migraines. Since these conditions require physical management and sometimes heavy painkillers, they can change a person’s way of life for the worse and compound any mental issues.
