19-year-old man charged with a DUI in Connecticut

Driving under the influence of alcohol endangers lives. Another reminder of this occurred recently when a 19-year-old crashed into the front steps of a Connecticut home after ignoring a stop sign at an intersection. Fortunately, the careless driver did not strike another vehicle nor hit any innocent pedestrians.

Thankfully in this case the injuries suffered by the driver and his three passengers, who were minors, were not life-threatening. The extent of their injuries has not been reported, but the four people involved in the one-car crash were taken to the hospital for their injuries and subsequently released. Despite there being no life-threatening injuries, the seriousness of this offense should not be understated.

This case has several variables in that this accident was caused by a driver who was charged with being under the influence of alcohol, despite being under the legal age to consume alcohol. There are circumstances that should be considered in the investigation of this case beyond his reckless driving, such as how the alcohol was obtained by the 19-year-old man.

The threat that comes with being the victim of a drunk driving accident can be serious and there is often a need for victims to take action against a driver for getting behind the wheel while intoxicated. Drunk drivers can be held liable for their actions.

Anyone who is injured in a drunk driving accident has a right to seek compensation for the damages that they sustain. It is often wise to seek legal counsel in order to accomplish this.
